Dear Chris,
Moist heat treatments are effective and ineffective in a lot of ways.
Depending on the rationale why the D/C of moist heat treatments is what I
sense in your letter. The PT has decided for some reasons. What I have in
mind are possible explanations: Passive Exercises may as well be effective in
increasing circulation, stretch tight or spastic muscles, etc. that using
heat treatments will be redundant. Or maybe it has something to do with cost,
time, productivity and outcomes. Or the heat treatments are becoming a
substitute to exercises which is not efficient.
And a lot of other things. It is a fact that 2 PT's can have opposing views
on a very simple modality based on experiences and expertise. Talk to the PT
and get a detailed clinical/administrative explanation to this.
Good luck.
