| subject: | ZOZ Air stops at St. Louis ... Bad times for low-cost companies... |
Icelandic WOW Air discontinued its scheduled service from Reykjavik to St. Louis in January, as announced by the airport authority. The transatlantic route to St. Louis was only opened last May. St. Louis Lambert International Airport was keen to get WOW Air. The Icelandic airline was promised a total of 800,000 dollars in incentives. WOW Air can whistle for that money, because that amount would only be paid if WOW Air would continue flying at St. Louis for at least two years. The company does not meet that standard by any means. The last flights will be operated on 7 January 2019. In a statement, the airport is extremely disappointed that WOW Air decides to terminate the route after just five months. Especially because St. Louis had a transatlantic route for the first time in fifteen years. According to the airport, the interest of the St. Louis region on the WOW Air flights was large. --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR33* Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 203/0 221/0 1 229/275 426 240/5832 261/38 280/464 5003 292/854 8125 SEEN-BY: 335/364 423/120 633/0 267 280 281 412 509 712/132 620 848 770/1 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 @PATH: 292/854 280/464 712/848 633/280 267 |
