DR>She had no reason to lie. You must understand the reasons why the
DR>insurance was cheaper. When you own a Ferrari, you take care of it; you
DR>don't drive like a maniac(unless you can afford wrecking cars that cost
DR>half a mill.) Your not going to take it down to Walmart or Publix or
DR>Home Depot to go shopping. Your problably not going to drive it around
DR>town very much. It's very unlikely that you'd take it out in the rain
DR>and if you did you would be a lot more carefull and not stay near any
DR>trucks or POS cars who don't care if they get in a wreck. The Insurance
DR>people know this and thats why it costs less to insure a Ferrari, they
DR>know that if you can afford a Ferrari you will know how to be carefull
DR>with it and not do stupid things with it therefore makeing it much less
DR>likely that you might need to make an insurance claim.
DR>---
What does it matter if you take care of it? Everyone takes care of
their cars, well, most people do. That doesn't cut them any break on
insurance. I don't drive like a maniac either. I don't take my truck
to any stores, or drive it around town very much. The only reason my
insurance isn't so bad is because it's a truck. Unfortunately for me,
even though I have full coverage...if anything happens to it I'll be
lucky if I can even get half of what it's worth from the insurance
company. The best bet is specialty car insurance, but in order to get
it you have to keep the vehicle garaged/locked up somewhere. I live in
an apartment complex so it's impossible for me to do it right now. So
therefore I continue to get ripped off paying way too much in insurance
for a truck I drive less than 1000 miles per year.
It's not because if you own a Ferrari you will drive it carefully,
because that doesn't mean crap. It's the people that would try to STEAL
the car or other people on the road that could crash into it that you
need the insurance for. They're not gonna give you any cutbacks because
you will drive it nice. Probably the reason it was low was because she
had specialty car insurance...which is based on limited mileage and
knowing that the car isn't driven as a daily driver. Her being female
probably helped alot also.
