Well, the main difference is the way the tracks work. Lets say we have
a four track MIDI and a 4 track MOD with two instruments. The tracks
will work like this (and I hope you use a fixed width font :) ).
MIDI:
Track 1 Track 2 Track 3 Track 4 Instrument 1 = I1
| I1 | I2 | I2 | I1 | 2 = I2
| C D E | A G F | B A D | E D F |
Each track can use one instrument (at a time), and have multiple notes.
MOD:
Track 1 Track 2 Track 3 Track 4 Instrument 1 = I1
| I1-C | I2-A | I2-G | I1-A | 2 = I2
| I2-D | I1-E | I2-G | I1-G |
Each track can use one instrument, but can have only one note.
Now that I'm done I probably could have done this without the diagram.
Oh well. :)

Off the top of my head, you can go to (on the internet):
Maz's Homepage: http://www.th-zwickau.de/~maz or www.mazsound.com
If I screwed up the URL, you can always go to Yahoo.
