Airlines and airports in the southeastern United States brace themselves for hurricane Florence. As a precaution, about four hundred flights have been canceled Wednesday and Thursday at airports across North and South Carolina. Florence is expected to land on Friday in the southern part of North Carolina. Airlines have put in place plans to ensure that customers, employees and facilities are safe. The airlines offer passengers the possibility to change their tickets free of charge to another date or to change the destination of their trip. The number of flights canceled is still relatively limited because there are few large hub airports in the area. The largest airport in the region is in Charlotte, an important hub for American Airlines. For the time being, no flights have been canceled at that more inland airport, although this may change in the coming days. The problems with Florence can last for days. Airlines have relaxed the reversal policy for Hurricane Florence for the following destinations: Charleston, SC (CHS), Charlotte, NC (CLT), Charlottesville, VA (CHO), Columbia, SC (CAE), Fayetteville, NC (FAY), Greensboro, NC (GSO), Jacksonville, NC (OAJ), Norfolk, VA (ORF), New Bern, NC (EWN), Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR), Newport News, VA (PHF), Raleigh Durham, NC (RDU), Richmond, VA (RIC), Roanoke, VA (ROA), Savannah, GA (SAV), Wilmington, NC (ILM) --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR33* Origin: AVIATION HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 203/0 221/0 1 229/275 426 240/5832 261/38 280/464 5003 292/854 8125 SEEN-BY: 335/364 423/120 633/0 267 280 281 412 509 712/132 620 848 770/1 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 @PATH: 292/854 280/464 712/848 633/280 267 |
