| subject: | Air Canada not French enough |
Air Canada must apologize to a Canadian couple and pay compensation of approximately 14,000 Euro because the airline has not treated French and English equally. The Ottawa court decided this week. The Michel and Lynda Thibodeau couple had complained that English is too dominant on domestic Air Canada flights. On seat belts, for example, there is only the English word "Lift" and the signs for the emergency exits are only in English or the English words are larger than the French ones. In Canada both English and French are official languages and must be treated equally by law. According to the judge, Air Canada has failed in this. The airline will now adjust the signage. --- D'Bridge 3.99* Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 203/0 221/0 1 6 360 229/426 230/0 240/5832 280/464 5003 292/854 8125 SEEN-BY: 335/364 396/45 423/120 633/0 267 280 281 412 509 640/1321 1384 SEEN-BY: 712/848 770/1 801/188 @PATH: 292/854 280/464 221/1 640/1384 633/280 267 |
