| subject: | 9/11 brain on trial |
The alleged brain behind "9/11" will have his day in court almost 20 years after the attacks in court. A military judge has decided that the trial against Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four co-suspects will start in early 2021, reports The New York Times. The five men are being prosecuted for their part in the September 11, 2001 attacks. Muslim extremists hijacked four passenger planes and used them as weapons against targets in the US. They rammed the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon, among others. Almost 3000 people died. Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow suspects were imprisoned in Pakistan in 2002 and 2003. According to the newspaper, they were first detained in CIA secret prisons. The detention centers were notorious for the torture practices that took place there, such as waterboarding. The men were transferred to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba in 2006. There the trial must begin on January 11, 2021. Sheikh Mohammed is suspected of being the architect of the terror plot. The other four men are said to have supported the hijackers. --- D'Bridge 3.99* Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 203/0 221/0 1 6 360 229/426 230/0 240/5832 280/464 5003 292/854 8125 SEEN-BY: 335/364 396/45 423/120 633/0 267 280 281 412 509 640/1321 1384 SEEN-BY: 712/848 770/1 801/188 @PATH: 292/854 280/464 221/1 640/1384 633/280 267 |
