DW>Can someone tell me how you distinguish between arthritis and PPS?
DW>I had non-paralytic polio in 1944 and returned to "good" health in
DW>two months with only a slightly shorter left side. Now I am having
DW>much pain in my hips, knees and ankles as well as the outside of the
DW>lower legs when I walk or stand for a prolonged period of time. I
DW>have been very busy for several years (over doing every day for days
DW>on end). At first I thought it was just stress and tried to rest
DW>between activities, however, even that hasn't helped. In 1988 I saw
DW>a Doctor who did xrays, bone scan and a catscan of the hip area. He
DW>said there was no deformity and could see nothing that would result

DW>Any help in this area would be appreciated.
Hi Doris,
Sometimes the pain is such that you can't distinguish any difference.
The PPS is a deep pain and sometimes it feels like it is in the bones
too. Hips, knees and ankles are places that both affect. It sounds (to
me) that you have the symtoms of PPS. Tell me, does the pain get worse
with each step? That is usually a sign. One other way that I can tell is
to just stop and stand still for a minute, does the pain let up some? If
it does then you are looking at PPS. Do you have any muscle twitching
when you relax?
