     reason to use the 2-hour speed. 
 
        As long as the tape is in pristine shape there is no 
        difference. The only difference is that if there is a 
        glitch in the tape it is much more noticeable at high 
        speeds. 
 
        One thing about using your VCR as a high quality tape 
        deck is you have to get your heads cleaned, preferably by 
        a pro, quite frequently, at least once a year IMO, as the 
        sound quality seems much more sensitive to dirty heads 
        than picture quality. Problems first show up as tracking 
        errors.....
