Greg accepted an invitation to the Tidy Bowl by saying:
GK> Ted Hendricks, Lyle Alzado, Otis Sistrunk, John Matuzak, etc..
GK> Fallacy?
1. Alzado was sent to Cleveland over a salary dispute. The Raiders got him
because the Browns were cleaning house after their disappointing 5-11 season
in 1981.
2. Hendricks was shipped to Green Bay in 1974 because he signed a future
contract with a WFL team (Ask our man from Baltimore, Alan Hess, about some
of the stupid deals that Irsay pulled off in the name of money/spite.
Contrast this with Kenny Stabler, who signed a future contract with
Birmingham. He remained with Oakland and remained the starter. The Raiders
picked up David Humm, in case he left but that didn't happen). The Packers'
situation was in such a disarray that it didn't take much for Hendricks to
want to go to Oakland.
3. Matuzak DIDN'T sign a future contract with the WFL, he signed *A* contract
with them and played 1 season. After it folded, he went to KC and a year
under Paul Wiggins was enough to convince him that his free agency would be
best served with any other team.
4. Sistrunk was one of their "own."
Fallacy? I think that you just proved it.
