PG> The trouble with the nexus is that once you are i it you don't want to
PG> leave! That means that when the crew of the voyager enter the nexus
PG> that will be the end of the series - and the crew. Kirk and Picard were
True.. but if they were CAREFUL what they wished for and demonstrated the
same freewill and strength to leave the Nexus, they could be transported
to the point right before they got knocked around in the badlands and
made corrections to wait outside for the Maquis ship they were chasing.
Of course, THAT creates a REALLY big hole in the cast though. Chakotay and
B'lanna would still be on that maquis ship, Tom would still be the penial
colony and if I remember the pilot episode correctly, Neelix and Kes would
still be in the Delta Quadrant. Seven of Nine would still be a borg.
But you have to admit, if given that opportunity, they would destroy the
storyline to get themselves home. The other possiblities would be
to encounter another "gateway" like the one that got them in the Delta
Quadrant and end up in the Gamma Quadrant. Spend about a year getting
back to the worm hole and show up at DS9. Or if they wanted to make it
REALLY easy, "Q" shows up again and simply pops them back into the Alpha
Quadrant. No ruptures in the space/time continuum or any of that stuff that
the show's writers would create by doing it any number of ways. The show
will NOT last another 60 years in any time lapse period. The characters
would die of old age... well, the HUMAN population would. The alien races
might make it back but oh, what a story they would have for Starfleet (if
SF sitll exists when they go the whole course.)
PG> able to leave the nexus because of their strong self control and

The fans will ALWAYS complain! But...it goes with the territory. I see
certain things that they do in the show that normally WOULD NOT WORK!
Or would, but would seriously cause a gap in the storyline. But, it is
sometimes the show's imperfections that make it so appealing! :)
