ZF> Overall, this episode, like the 1950s homage to the old radio shows and
ZF> serials, was also an homage to one of the classic Trek radio serials,
ZF> where Gary Seven's 'time toaster' was captured by Nazi agents, and SS
ZF> troops were transported back to the time of the Vulcan Awakening to
change
 ZF> history.
ZF> I am duly impressed in these bits of history in the 70th anniversary of
 ZF> Trek's first radio appearance.
Oops. 75th anniversary. The Voyage of the Enterprise was first
broadcast toward the end of 1922. Of course, in those days the scripts
were broadcast live and recorded on transcription disk. The
transcription disks were not considered to be broadcast quality; they
were for archival purposes only. When the Voyage of the Enterprise was
rebroadcast in the spring of 1923 it was done live again, rather than
broadcast from disk, I believe.
