That may have ben one of the last broadcasts anywhere, the result of
copyright issues that have embroiled the Republic serials since the
early 1960s.  There were a few stations that had broadcast rights from
movie packages that typically are good for a few years.

That was part of the genra at the time.  There were dozens of serials
featuring many different stars that combined SF and cowboys.  But you
will notice from the collected research that they didn't repeat the
formula in any later stories.  I think they concluded it didn't work too
well.
Of course, I'm personally more interested in the radio series.  :-)
