ML> MC> Heaviest Flurries in 40 years. :>
I can imagine, in fact have you noticed all the weather in the great 50
has been wierd?
MC> Your famous earthquake was October 17, 1989
Yep, one in which I will never! forget!!!!!
while our snow "storm" was
MC> in February.
The last time I drove to SF, I noticed the 280 reopened,
MC> double decked as before. I didn't think they'd use the same type of
MC> construction after what happened in '89.
Nope, don't think they ever will!!!! Most of the freeways were built in
the 60/70 era, those engineers were warned by a famous guy down at Stanford
University, neck of the woods, but he was poo-pooed about it and they built
it anyways they wanted. Some of 280 still is down. The Central which
cuts through the City is still down! Cypress freeway, across the Bay, just
got rebuilt, a 3 mile diversion which goes straight to the tollgates to the
Bay Bridge. Single, no double-decker, this time. The east bay got most of
the federal monies to rebuild, while SF is crying there is none left.
Remains to be seen....
