PH>If I could get her to stop trying to eat my shirts while she's on my
PH>shoulder, things would be even better. :-)
There's an obvious solution to that problem, Pete...don't LET her get up
on your shoulder! I don't let any of my birds on shoulders here--they
have to stay down on my forearm, my lap, or hang off of my shirt front
(which they like because they can cuddle under my chin there).
PH>She's picked up a number of words and a whole bunch of noises and when
PH>she decides to make noise it's like being next to a kindergarten play
PH>ground next to a jungle. She's picked up police siren noises, a laugh
PH>that I have NO idea where she got, she imitates my hearing aids feedback,
PH>imitates someone knocking on the front door, and the vacumn cleaner. She
PH>also makes clucking noises, kissing noises, and various sorts of
PH>screams. She says, "hello." "hey baby," "step up," "how are ya,"
PH>"whatcha doin?"
She sounds like a joy to have around! I love birds who can mimic sounds.
The conures here *can*, but don't do it very often. Mostly they either
"talk" (such as conures do), or scream...
PH>expecting me to scratch her neck, and resume her preening. Her Second Most
PH>Favorite Thing In The World is destroying her chew toys. She goes through
PH>chew toys at an astonishing rate. I'm thinking of renting her out as a
PH>wood chipper/mulcher.
That's a bird's job--destroying things! She's just doing what she's
programmed to do!
