This is not necessarily true, Stewy. Take a look at the publication dates 
listed at the end of this message and then support your above statement. 
While I'll grant that it might -look- like he's publishing less, please note 
that, in general, his books are longer than they were in the early days, and 
he's also written nine screenplays in the past ten years as well.
(Perhaps I'll do an analysis of these publications in terms of pages and post 
that analysis. I suspect we'll find that he's actually writing -more- in the 
past five years than he did in the twenty prior to that!)

The Afterword to Dark Tower IV, dated October, 1996, indicates that six or 
seven is still the target number for total number of volumes.
