DV> If the FCC does not set standards for scanners or receivers, then
DV> why does my manual for the Uniden Trunktracker say, and I quote:
DV> Certified in accordance with FCC Rules and Regulations Part 15,
DV> Subpart C as of date of manufacture
BB> Please read what you posted. Your reciever is Type CERTIFIED, not
BB> type ACCEPTED. Type CERTIFICATION is a completely different process
BB> and result than ACCEPTANCE!
Suffice it to say, and perhaps clear up the confusion for Duane,
that transmitters are ACCEPTED and all other gear that emits RF
(microwave ovens, computers, TV's, scanners) are CERTIFIED.
But there must to be standards for certification. The levels
of RF emmission used to be the only standard but nowadays that our
brillant congress has ordered the FCC to withhold cerification of
scanners that do not lock out cell frequencies.
... Crime, Sex, Alcohol, Drugs... God, I love Congress
