subject: wild parrots!! Really!!

         GOOD NEWS!
They're still here and they're nesting!
I've been real worried about our indiginous parrot flock since I haven't
seen them in over a year. They've not flown down our road screaming
bloody murder, I've not seen them in our park where they used to drive
people crazy with their screaming. (They're mostly Green Conures)
But today as we drove down a different street on our treck to the DQ we
heard a familiar screetch and lo and behold two old dead palm trees with
parrot nests all over them! Sort of hidden in a bunch of leafy trees,
but you CANNOT hide that screech!
We have a species of palm trees here that are dying out and they make
fine parrot nests, and this two has done a heck of a job. There must be
a dozen nest holes in each tree, and I saw what I'm pretty sure were two
little heads peering out of one hole with the parents feeding them.
So, though I didn't see the main flock, I saw about two dozen of 'em and
they were having a _wunnerful_ time screaming and fighting over the nest
holes.
So, they aint gone, they just changed neighborhoods! Maybe someday I'll
have parrots screaming down my road again!
