BJ> No, the FCC 'approves' transmitters, NOT receivers.  So if you have a
BJ> receiver that ONLY picks up have freqs, you're OK.
Why then is every scanning receiver labeled with an FCC ID Number. And you'll 
also note when reading scanner catalogs that new scanners which havent 
received fcc 'approval' (I use the word approved, loosely in leu of the more
appropriate phrase) cant be sold in the U.S.  and the catalog usually is
labeled 'for export only'.
