RE:  Anniversary Edition, West Indies Surname Interests List
     THE SURNAME LIST IS A YEAR OLD!  The West Indies Surname
Interests List is now a year old, its first issue having been
released in March a year ago.  In that time, it has more than
quadrupled in size, starting with 649 submissions from 110 people
in the first issue to 2,626 submissions from 494 people in the most
recent issue.  The e-mail distribution list contains about 780
addresses.  Thanks to all who support the List with submissions,
suggestions and kind words.
     IF YOU ARE HEARING ABOUT THE SURNAME LIST FOR THE FIRST TIME
. . . it is a list of West Indian surnames of interest to
researchers with e-mail capabilities.  The List is organized by
West Indian country.  There is no charge for submitting or
subscribing.  The Surname List is distributed to subscribers by e-
mail.  If you would like to have a copy of the last issue, it can
be downloaded from my Web site:

     INVITATION TO SUBMIT SURNAMES FOR ISSUE NO. 7.  You are
invited to make surname submissions for the seventh issue of the
West Indies Surname Interests List.  Surnames are welcome for any
West Indian country, including Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, The
Bahamas, Barbados, Barbuda, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, British
Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican
Republic (Santo Domingo), French Guiana, Grenada, Guadeloupe,
Guyana, Haiti (St. Domingue), Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat,
Nevis, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saba, St. Barthelemy, St. Eustatius,
St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and the Grenadines,
Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and U.S.
Virgin Islands.
     IF YOU PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED SURNAMES . . . you do not need to
resubmit them for Issue No. 7.  You may, of course, submit more
surnames, modify your existing surname entries, or change your e-
mail address, if you wish.  If you previously submitted surnames,
you will receive a separate message from me confirming your
previous submissions.  Those "Your Submissions" messages are being
sent simultaneously with this message.
     HOW TO SUBMIT.  Send me a message (Vaughn Royal,
vroyal@compuserve.com) including:
1.   Your name;
2.   Your e-mail address (one only, please);
3.   Your location (city, state/province/parish and country); and
4.   For each surname you are researching:
     a.   Surname (including spelling variations);
     b.   West Indian country (if not known, you may use "West    
          Indies");
     c.   Locality in which surname is of interest, if known (e.g., 
          parish, county, department, region, etc.); and
     d.   The time frame for which you have information (limited to 
          12 characters; please be concise).
Feel free to submit as many surnames as you like.  Recognizing the
fact that e-mail is not perfect, if you do not receive a
confirmation message from me within five days, send your submission
message again.
     ISSUE NO. 7 SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  Please e-mail your surname
submissions to me so that they are received not later than
March 23, 1997.  Issue No. 7 will be e-mailed on March 26, 1997 to
everyone who received this message by direct e-mail from me,
submits surnames or subscribes.
     If you received this message and do not wish to receive the
West Indies Surname Interests List, send me a short e-mail and your
name will be removed from the list of recipients.
