You no longer need to take a morse exam for the Technician license. Only
theory, rules/regs, and operating procedures. You gain all privileges
on all bands above 30mhz, including voice, fstv, and digital. To work
HF, you still need morse, but once you have the Tech license, you only
need to pass a 5wpm morse test, and really, 5wpm is nothing. Passing
the code gives you cw on 10, 15, 40, and 80 meters and voice/data on 10
meters.
Novice now gives you voice/data on 10m and limited full privileges on
222 and 1.2 gigs as well as cw on 10,15,40 and 80 meters.
If you can live with these, go take the test!
