 -> The PC interface allows you to do several things that would
 -> otherwise be impossible. One that I can mention is the expansion of
 -> memory in your scanner and another is control of bank switching. Of
 -> course, there are many other features that come with an interface
 -> software/hardware package.
I have a very basic (read OLD) Bearcat BC-210 (10 chan memory)
scanning rcvr (SN 546##) and I'm wondering if anyone has come
up with a way to interface that model for computer control ?
Updating this unit to monitor more channels and other features
that could be gained via software (ie search logs, tone lockout,
faster rate, etc) sounds very appealing. There is PLENTY of
room inside the unit for an additional PCB (3x5" if needed)
and lots of room on the backplane for a DB-9/25 (etc) connector.
I'd like to access the scanner CPU directly, not just stuff the
keyboard matrix.  The socketed chip is marked;
B733-2 / ML980 / BP 7714  not sure if that is the CPU or if it's;
AMI 7708CQ / 9267-002 / B-257-2 / KOREA
If someone with a schematic for this could clarify that ?
And perhaps hazard a guess as to why the trace to pin #18 of
the ML980 chip might be cut ??? Is that a known mod ?
Any info appreciated...  :)
Sincerely,
