  Hi Paul,
Just reading your post. You might want to start out small first then work
way up to the bigger birds. That is what we did. We started with a
Cockatiel
and then we worked up to an Amazon then to a Macaw. I love then all. Just
like the
other post to you read all you can about all the differnt kinds you like
and then what you should do is to find out if there is a bird club where
you live. And go vist that. That is what we did and we have learned so
much form being
a member. And about the cats. I also lock them in another room when any of
my birds are out. just for safty reasons. The bigger birds could take care
of them selfs
but the smaller ones like the bugies, cockatiels ect. would by fair game if
there wings were cliped. Witch is a good thing to do if you don't want to
lose them
Will have fun if and when you get one and if I can help in any way just
et
   me know
   Mary
