subject: PC INTERFACES

Dick, I tried sending E-Mail to you earlier this morning on this subject
but the server returned it as my quota had exceeded for the day.
There are all kinds of software and hardware on the market which are
available to you for connecting your scanner to the PC. You absolutely
need to have an interface for this going into the scanner from the
computer (including the necessary cable).
One person that might be able to help you here is the SYSOP of the
Alien Biker Kat, Bud Jamison. He is quite knowledgeable when it comes
to this kind of stuff. He can be contacted at the BBS (619-277-4140).
Another person who specializes in this sort of thing is Bill Cheek (the
author of The Ultimate Scanner and the Scanner Modification Handbook
(VOLUMES 1 & 2). He can be contacted through the rec.radio.scanner or
alt.radio.scanner newsgroups. I don't have is E-mail address handy.
Another good source for picking up PC interface stuff for your scanner
is Popular Communications magazine. You can also find out about this
stuff in Monitoring Times magazine.
The PC interface allows you to do several things that would otherwise be
impossible. One that I can mention is the expansion of memory in your
scanner and another is control of bank switching. Of course, there are
many other features that come with an interface software/hardware
package.

BTW, I am going to the Winslow-Holbrook area on a short trip sometime
during the summer and would like a copy of the most recent frequency
data base for the Arizona and New Mexico (specifically Four Corners)
regions. If possible, can you supply me with a current listing of
frequencies for these areas? I would appreciate this very much. You
can send it to me via my E-mail address on JUNO.

Thanks
Brian
