As far as I've ever been able to tell, it's where you would come to chat with 
others about writing music, for fun and/or profit. 
In the earlier days when there were a ton of people here, we did a tape where 
everyone sent in a few tunes, and they were compiled onto a master, and 
copies sent to all the participants. I still have mine, and it is quite good, 
for the most part. There are a few real stand-out tunes that I still find 
myself singing from time to time.
