The absolute most simple way to understand trunking...
Take for instance your local small town hospital. They may have 200
patient rooms, with a phone in each one. Maybe another 200 staff
and administrative phones. All of them have access to the regular
outside phone system, BUT there are not 400 outside lines, rather,
say, 12 outside lines. 400 users can co-exist, because not all of
the users are trying to access the outside lines at the same time.
In the radio world, you may have 400 radios, using say, 25 talkgroups
(Which is just like a channel to the user).
Not all of those users need to use the radio at the same time, nor are
all the talkgroups active at the same time, allowing many more users
to use the system.
