KZ>WU>No...the times that are posted for a particular car in a MAJOR national
KZ>WU>magazine are times that are FASTER than what actually happens. I
KZ>WU>know for a fact that SEVERAL of their editors work for major car
KZ>WU>manufacturers as well, and so articles as well as times are biased for
KZ>WU>their favor.
KZ>Okay then perhaps you can explain to me why my old car, a 1988 GTA Trans
KZ>Am, which was reported to run the 1/4 mile in 15.4-15.8 seconds...ran
KZ>15.2 the first time I ever ran it, bone stock?
KZ>WU>From your statement, I know...for a FACT that you've never seen these
KZ>WU>cars run quarter mile times SIDE BY SIDE becuase I just saw some of them
KZ>WU>RUN yesterday. Our team beat an LT1 Vette last night. The Vette had a
KZ>WU>Borla exhaust, and it was a '95 Model. The VETTE even gave us a three
KZ>WU>car lead. Our car smoked that Vette but at LEAST six cars. ONE CAR
KZ>WU>LENGTH is only .10 of a second...so you're wrong on that information as
KZ>WU>well.
KZ>You are correct, I never have seen a Civic VTEC run anything side by
KZ>side. That's why I'm questioning your math. I've seen all of the other
KZ>cars you've mentioned run, and I know what they are capable of despite
KZ>what you believe. This is the whole point of my messages, to find out
KZ>the truth about how fast a Civic VTEC really is, because the different
KZ>things that you say about it don't match up. As for you beating a
KZ>Corvette, good for you. The guy was obviously a moron for giving you
KZ>three car lengths, which makes me question whether he even knew how to
KZ>really get the most out of his car. If you're gonna give me examples,
KZ>give me a heads up run against another car. Not any handicapped races
KZ>because then it's harder for me to get the idea of how fast the car is.
KZ>As for how much a car length in the 1/4 mile is worth, I'm not gonna say
KZ>I'm right and you're wrong...because I have no actual proof. That's why
KZ>I said a car length is ABOUT 3 tenths of a second, but I still believe
KZ>it's a little closer to 3 tenths than it is to 1 tenth.
KZ>WU>Imagine...putting an Integra motor that developed 196 horses at the
KZ>WU>WHEELS inside a 2200lb shell will give you about 11 or 12 horses per
KZ>WU>pound. Wait...let me guess, you also believe that when the magazines
KZ>WU>claim that a car produces 200hp, you believe that. Take into account
KZ>WU>that the engine output is approximately 20% different than what comes
KZ>WU>out after friction losses and other factors before that power gets to
KZ>WU>where it's most important - at the wheels.
KZ>Usually when a magazine reports the horsepower figures, it's less than
KZ>it really has. At least in the case of muscle/sports typed cars. I
KZ>don't know what the reason behind that is, but I'm sure you're going to
KZ>tell me I'm wrong anyway. The horsepower figures reported nowadays are
KZ>at the rear wheels, so those friction losses and other factors are
KZ>accounted for. Back in the 60's/70's they reported the figures for at
KZ>the flywheel.
KZ>WU>pretty fast cars and ALL of them do it without turbos/nitrous. The fact
KZ>WU>that you even MENTIONED supercharging shows that you are in fact
KZ>WU>ignorant in this discussion.
KZ>I'm not from Puerto Rico, I've never been there, and to be honest, I
KZ>really don't care whether they make their cars fast with natural
KZ>aspiration or forced induction. How does my mention of supercharging
KZ>show that I'm ignorant in this discussion? I have a friend with a 1990
KZ>Ford Mustang GT (25th Anniversary) with balls to the walls mods from top
KZ>to bottom...including a Vortech S-Trim blower. This is the fastest car
KZ>I've ever ridden in and I gaurantee if you rode in it you wouldn't look
KZ>down upon supercharging anymore.
KZ>Now to sum it all up, I'm not trying to get into an arguement with you.
KZ>I just want to know what the real story is because you still have yet to
KZ>enlighten me as to the true speed of this Civic VTEC your "team" races.
KZ>If your "team" is ever in the South Florida area, drop me some E-mail,
KZ>because I'd really like to see the car run with my own eyes. And I'll
KZ>even run you myself in my 86 Chevy Pick-Up truck. And if you beat me,
KZ>which I doubt you will, then you can run that Mustang I mentioned
KZ>above...and then maybe you will stop trying to make it out like I don't
KZ>know anything about street/drag racing.
KZ>Take it easy.

KZ>South Florida, Call in to get your local Line!
Supercharging only works on engines that can develop substantial torque
to turn the darn thing. On Civic motors...or Integra motors,
superchargers do not work! Those engines do not produce enough torque
at low rpm's to spin it. That is why turbocharging is a far better
alternative.
We're attending a race in South Florida on September 13. I'll send you
more information on it. It's a race of all imports...so perhaps you can
be enlightened on what I'm talking about.
