IN>DR>SA>GA>DO>The NSX is merely the most acclaimed..
IN>DR>SA>GA>Yes it is, and has been for the whole decade. And why do you think
IN>DR>SA>GA>so acclaimed? Because it's turn signal flasher emits a more satisf
IN>DR>SA>GA>sounding click than the Corvette's? DR>SA>GA>like everyone else here too!> At least part of you would seriously
IN>DR>SA>GA>answer "yes", so in advance, I'll say "guess again". It's because
IN>DR>SA>GA>the best of the best, regardless of numbers. If you think national
IN>DR>SA>GA>has anything to do with it, then another example would be the 300ZX
IN>DR>SA>GA>Turbo, which also had the slowest numbers and was the oldest design
IN>DR>SA>GA>stayed king of Japanese sports cars, after VR-4, after RX-7, after
IN>DR>SA>GA>Turbo. Nothing could touch it, much less the C4.
IN>DR>SA>GA>The 97 Corvette is just as acclaimed as the NSX anyway. But a big
IN>DR>SA>GA>of that hype comes from sympathy, because the old one was so much w
IN>DR>SA>GA>Granted, it's a good, true sports car now, but everyone's been prai
IN>DR>SA>GA>it for how much it has improved, even though all it's done is caugh
IN>DR>SA>GA>The hype is starting to fade already. I'm sure you got the latest
IN>DR>SA>GA>of C&D. Read that whole 1/4th of a page on how they talk about how
IN>DR>SA>GA>its handling sucks.

IN>DR>SA>"Ther best of the best" should read "My o[[inion, drawn soley from
IN>DR>SA>magazines, is that it is the best."
IN>DR>SA>I'm sorry, in my books, the Dodge Viper with better numbers all around
IN>DR>SA>is the best of the best. *I* happen toi think it looks better than th
IN>DR>SA>NSX, and as proven, it out performs it in every category. The only
IN>DR>SA>thing you can say for the NSX is "people say it 'drives' better."
IN>DR>SA>Nonsense.

IN>DR>I would go with the Viper if your talking road cars that cost less than
IN>DR>$100k. I realize that it's a bit out of your price range but Ferrari's
IN>DR>have every sports car beat to a pulp. In the May issue or Motor Trend
IN>DR>they compared 7 of the tope sports cars, includeing the Viper, Porche
IN>DR>911, Toyota Supra, Mitsu. 3000 GT, the NEW Corvette, another one i can't
IN>DR>remember, and a Ferrari. Not just any Ferrari, but one of the cheapest,
IN>DR>slowest, suckiest Ferrari's. Throughout all of the Testing that Ferrari
IN>DR>was usually in the uppermiddle of the rankings, averaging third place
IN>DR>right behind the Viper and Porche. I think it says something when you
IN>DR>compare your worst to someone elses best and end up just a little
IN>DR>behind. Which brings me to another subject, engines. I find it funny
IN>DR>how consistently throughout history American engineers have needed to to
IN>DR>use an engine about twice the size of their compeditors in order to be a
IN>DR>little better/faster. Go back a few decades to the f-50. They were
IN>DR>made with a three or four liter engine with 12!! cylindars, and they
IN>DR>blew everybody's doors off. Then Shelby got tired of it and built the
IN>DR>Shelby Colbra. He had to use an engine that was either quite a bit
IN>DR>more or just a little bit less then twice the size of the Ferrari
IN>DR>engine(depending of which one you compare it too) in order to be better.
IN>DR> I bet if either Ferrari or Porche decided to DOUBLE it's engine size
IN>DR>they wouldn't even be touched by anything americans could make.

IN>Ferraris come with a one year warranty I believe, just like diablos.

Because they make their cars so well that if it breaks and is the
companies fault it'll be within a year. Also the people who buy
Ferrari's and Diablos have so much money they don't care about waranty
because they know that if they break it,it's probably because they
abused it(which some do because they can afford it.) Another reason is
because of driving habits. I changed the oil in a Ferrari Daytona; it
was the first time it had an oil change in ten years, not because he
neglects it but because he neverdrives it. You can't put a warranty on
a car that is sold to people who have such different driving habits
ranging from almost never to driving down to the races every weekend,
and wining. If you bought a new Corvette, or Viper or whatever, and
drove it down to the races, or raced it when your not supposed to, and
the dealer found out, do you honestly think they would continue to
warranty it? I think they would put it under severe, absusive driving.
Admitably the Dealer might try to hide your habits under the covers but
if the factory found out they would refuse to refund the dealer and they
wouldn't like that.
