I've heard from a semi-reliable source that word is out that this -is- the
last book. I have the book in my possession, but have not yet started to read
it. I need to find a copy of Waste Lands first. I am tempted, though, to
check the book for a foreward/afterward that would give a clue....

Must be "just you", Stewy. :)
S> I think his best all around book is "The Stand"..
I think it ranks right up there, but I just finished reading "The Body" in
_Different Seasons_, and truly think it's probably one of the best -stories-
he's ever written.
Despite what I've been "told" about King's statements that this was the last,
the afterword to _Wizard and Glass_ implies otherwise. Read this... and
decide for yourself. It's dated October 27, 1996. (Over one year from writing
to publication!)
"...the book is here, after all. I don't know if it's good or bad--I lost all
sense of perspective around page four hundred--but it's here. That alone
seems like a miracle. And I have started to believe I might actually live to
complete this cycle of stories. (Knock on wood.)
"There are three more to be told, I think, two set chiefly in Mid-World
and one almost entirely in our world..."
Of course, whether or not they ever actually get written, is another issue,
but based on this information, it's obvious that _Wizard and Glass_ is not
the final chapter in _The Dark Tower_.
