Many people do not have shell accounts available.  Even if they do they may
want many of the capabilities that the mailer scripts do not provide such
as efficiency, error testing, NNTP/SMTP/POP3 capabilities, multi-tasking,
deleting of files from the remote site as they are received, etc.

I run KA9Q here without having to take my mailer offline.  It
simultaneously receives newsgroups, Email, and files in the background.  It
also runs TRANSX.
