RD>Let me rephrase this a bit. The Christ of Armenianism and the Christ of
RD>Calvinism are different. The question becomes, which is the Christ of
RD>scripture. When we read ALL the passages, the answer becomes clear to
RD>those are willing to accept God's word, even when it doesn't fit with
heir
RD>understanding.
If your Jesus is the true one mine is the false one and visa versa.
Lets compare what we have here.
1) Your Jesus has made an attempt to save all of humanity if they
comply with his conditions. My Jesus came to "save His people from
their sins" (Matt. 1:21) not just make them savable.
2) Your Jesus is desperately trying to deliver as many as possible
from this evil world if only they will come. Mine came to "deliver people
from this evil world" (Gal. 1:4) not just attempt it.
3) Your Jesus attempted by his death to make it potential that
all men might be holy. My Jesus came to actually make people pure and holy
(Eph. 5:25-27) not just make it possible.
4) Your Jesus loves all men equally but that love can not persuade
men to come to him. My Jesus "having loved his own loved them unto the
end" John 13:1. And because he loved them he has secured your salvation
in covenant redemption.
5) Your Jesus's work is not complete since it does not save all who
were its object and mine saved all who the Father gave to him.
6) Your Jesus is a helpless anemic Jesus who weakly wrings his
hands together hoping more will come and my Jesus said "all that the
Father giveth to me SHALL come to me" and he also said that he would
"give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him" when praying to
the Father.
7) Your Jesus sees the travail of his soul and cannot be satisfied
because he sees that most for whom he died would ultimately perish.
My Jesus sees the travail of his soul and sees his seed and is
satisfied. Isa. 53 Why? Because all for whom he set out to saved
will be saved.
Which Jesus is worthy of worship? I will take my victorious Jesus not a
defeated Jesus.
To believe in the finished work of Christ is to believe that all for
whom Christ died- died with Him judically in covenant redemption. If
one believes that faith or some human abilty must be added to it
then they are actually saying that the work of the cross
stands eternally incomplete. It is then our faith or obedience
that is actually the catalyst. People that believe that Christ died
for all men cannot sing songs like "There is Power in the Blood" without
betraying your own beliefs. If they are correct then there is no power
in the blood because the blood by itself has no power to initiate the
repentance and faith in the sinner. The unregenerate sinner then hold
the power.
We should then rename songs like this:
Amazing Grace to Amazing Obedience
Power in the Blood to Power in Our Free Will
Great is Thy Faithfulness to Great is My Faithfulness
What side would you rather be on? The one that gives all the credit to
God or the one that takes some of the credit from God?
For the cause of God and truth.....
