If you're looking to test deterioration you will need some information you
don't have.... namely what was the ability at some time in the past that you
want to use for a reference. Otherwise you can compare between now and some
future time.
The only thing that comes to my mind is a segment out of the
Wechsler-Bellevue from forty years ago in which the subject was read a series
of numbers and asked to repeat them. I think the repetition was done both in
the order read and backward. You start with three or four single digit
numbers, then continue increasing the length of the string until you get
consistent failures.
Obviously this won't do much for you except for immediate memory but then it
really wasn't designed to be primarily a test of memory.
There are several tests that utilize things like reading a short story
segment and then telling what you read but I these are not primarily tests of
recall.
If the people performing the therapy make claims for improved recall, I'd
think they should have something that would back up their claims. Have you
asked or is it possible?
