yeah, unfortunately later versions of windows don't abide by the same
filesystem limitations as dos did (and i don't just mean ntfs vs. fat or
8.3 filenames vs. long filenames) which causes file enumeration in the
dos vm on recent versions of windows (where recent can include w2000) to
not have complete coverage...

it's not a limitation of f-prot for dos, either, by the way... the dos
file io api's that f-prot uses simply haven't been updated - microsoft
could update them but then it would no longer be as accurate a
simulation of dos... fsi could switch to a more up to date api for the
dos app, but then it would no longer work under actual dos...

oh, god... navigating the mcafee website is like navigating through a
rain forest without a guide... i know there are still command line
versions of mcafee's product because a front-end called multi-av uses it
(and the cli versions of 3 other products)... the author of multi-av
regularly links to http://www.ik-cs.com/v2/got-a-virus.htm and
http://www.claymania.com/removal-trojan-adware.html - both have some
good links and the second one has a link for the stinger utility...
