SA>GA>DO>The NSX is merely the most acclaimed..
SA>GA>Yes it is, and has been for the whole decade. And why do you think it's
SA>GA>so acclaimed? Because it's turn signal flasher emits a more satisfying-
SA>GA>sounding click than the Corvette's? GA>like everyone else here too!> At least part of you would seriously
SA>GA>answer "yes", so in advance, I'll say "guess again". It's because it's
SA>GA>the best of the best, regardless of numbers. If you think nationality
SA>GA>has anything to do with it, then another example would be the 300ZX
SA>GA>Turbo, which also had the slowest numbers and was the oldest design, yet
SA>GA>stayed king of Japanese sports cars, after VR-4, after RX-7, after Supra
SA>GA>Turbo. Nothing could touch it, much less the C4.
SA>GA>The 97 Corvette is just as acclaimed as the NSX anyway. But a big part
SA>GA>of that hype comes from sympathy, because the old one was so much worse.
SA>GA>Granted, it's a good, true sports car now, but everyone's been praising
SA>GA>it for how much it has improved, even though all it's done is caught up.
SA>GA>The hype is starting to fade already. I'm sure you got the latest issue
SA>GA>of C&D. Read that whole 1/4th of a page on how they talk about how much
SA>GA>its handling sucks.

SA>"Ther best of the best" should read "My o[[inion, drawn soley from
SA>magazines, is that it is the best."
SA>I'm sorry, in my books, the Dodge Viper with better numbers all around
SA>is the best of the best. *I* happen toi think it looks better than the
SA>NSX, and as proven, it out performs it in every category. The only
SA>thing you can say for the NSX is "people say it 'drives' better."
SA>Nonsense.

I would go with the Viper if your talking road cars that cost less than
$100k. I realize that it's a bit out of your price range but Ferrari's
have every sports car beat to a pulp. In the May issue or Motor Trend
they compared 7 of the tope sports cars, includeing the Viper, Porche
911, Toyota Supra, Mitsu. 3000 GT, the NEW Corvette, another one i can't
remember, and a Ferrari. Not just any Ferrari, but one of the cheapest,
slowest, suckiest Ferrari's. Throughout all of the Testing that Ferrari
was usually in the uppermiddle of the rankings, averaging third place
right behind the Viper and Porche. I think it says something when you
compare your worst to someone elses best and end up just a little
behind. Which brings me to another subject, engines. I find it funny
how consistently throughout history American engineers have needed to to
use an engine about twice the size of their compeditors in order to be a
little better/faster. Go back a few decades to the f-50. They were
made with a three or four liter engine with 12!! cylindars, and they
blew everybody's doors off. Then Shelby got tired of it and built the
Shelby Colbra. He had to use an engine that was either quite a bit
more or just a little bit less then twice the size of the Ferrari
engine(depending of which one you compare it too) in order to be better.
I bet if either Ferrari or Porche decided to DOUBLE it's engine size
they wouldn't even be touched by anything americans could make.
