Personally, I prefer the flavor of roasted jalapenos and tomatoes.
More over, blistering the skin on the tomatoes will increase the
available lycopene in the tomatoe. Moreover, I understand that some 
people already roast their aubergines and potatoes, so it shouldn't be 
much of a cross to bear for them. 

As for the other members of the Solanaceae family (Datura or Jimson 
weed, mandrake, deadly nightshade or belladonna, tobacco, and petunia), 
roasting couldn't hurt ;o)
