Here's an update on some of the details of Final Fantasy VII for the PC:
- The game is due this summer. A demo should be available
shortly before or at its release.
- Hardware requirements: p/166, 16 MB RAM, and 200 MB HD space (this
improves load times *greatly* over those of the PSX).
- Supported 3D cards: 3Dfx Voodoo 1/2, Rendition V2100/V2200, and
others through Direct3D. So far, the game runs at about 50+ fps on a
Voodoo 1 board.
- The game won't feature mouse support, but will have a full keyboard
setup including hotkeys. A gamepad is the recommended input device.
- The plot is identical, but dialogue has been edited to remove
spelling and grammar errors.
- As with the PSX version, there will be no voice acting.
- Much of the art (including 2D backgrounds and 3D textures) has been
redone with more detail, to reflect the extra graphical crispness the
PC version has.
- The music is still in MIDI, but there's an XG emulation mode which
better represents what the composer had in mind.
Hope this satisfies all interested.
