subject: Nerve Damage

Hello all,
I'm new to this echo and I have a question. I suffered severe nerve damage
to my left leg and foot some 5 years ago. I still have some numbness and
tingling and the muscles are weak. My toes tend to curl also. My question
is this, is there any kind of treatment out there that could speed up the
process of nerve regeneration (that is if they are still regenerating; I no
longer have the excrutiating pain)? Would I benefit from Physical therapy
for the muscles?
Another question I have concerns my left hand. It was badly burned at around
the same time I damaged the nerves in my leg. I had a Z-plasty(?) done on it
and now my thumb is frozen in place so that I have very limited mobility.
The muscles in my fingers are all very stiff and can only be bent to a
certain point before my thumb interfers. Is there more that can be done for
my hand? Is it possible to take muscle from another part of the body to
repair the damaged muscle?
Thanks in advance. I would appreciate any and all advice on this subject.
Kathy
