Subject: Re: Should We Create Comp
The overall censorship of alt.* groups by lots of proxys (read:
corporate/school ISPs) is just stupid, because nearly all alt.* groups
are just fine. However, it's unlikely to change soon and since I for
some reason my ISP didn't carry alt.lang.powerbasic up till now you got
a new vote :-).
My suggestion would be to shut down alt.lang.powerbasic after
comp.lang.powerbasic is created. Reading both alt.lang.asm and
comp.lang.asm.x86 is really annoying; many people cross-post. The comp
groups eventually get more traffic if you allow folks to move, which is
best done by just shutting down the ability to post messages, and only
leave a message instructing people to move over (is this possible?).
I'd much rather have a ng than the web-based system, since you can
pre-download these and read/respond offline, which is great for us
pay-per-minute folks in europe.
