I agree whole-heartedly.
To give a particular example, out of many possible examples, here is a
powerful feature found in PB32 and PB35 that QB45 programmers could only
dream of:
You can write a set of SUBs or FUNCTIONs that each perform alternate
services that might be needed, based on the nature of the data
you have to work with. Then you can create 32-bit code pointers to
the SUBs or FUNCTIONs, and embed the appropriate pointers into your data
TYPE, on the fly, so that your data and its inherent functions become
encapsulated together at run time. This emulates the "late-binding"
features of C++.
This sort of thing cannot be mastered without effort. But, it opens
whole worlds of possibility. QBASIC and QB45 cannot touch PowerBasic
when it comes to features.
