I have a great solution that will allow you to do your hobbyist thing
without paying money that you don't want to OR ripping off the fine
folks at powerbasic. Go to www.powerbasic.com and download the demo
version.
As far as demos. etc. think of PowerBasic as Qbasic plus extra features.
Learn Qbasic and you will be able to master the extra features of PB
in an hour or two. There are a *lot* of Qbasic demos out there.
The best thing about Qbasic is that it's free from microsoft.
