Hi Jim,
I noticed your comments and thought I'd put in my Canadian Looney
worth. :)
JC> Hi. My name is Jim, I'm a Respiratory Therapy student in the US. I
JC> pickup your message about the use of budensonide in the United
States. JC> Well it is but it is not called Pulmacort. The brand name
for this drug JC> in the US is Rhinocort administered as a nasal spray @
32mcg/metered JC> spray. Given 2 in AM and 4 in PM. But is not indicated
as an asthma JC> preventing corticosteroid. It is indicated only for
rhinitis. Your JC> question on this drug, has struck and interest in me.
I plan to contact JC> Joseph Rao, RRT PhD. He does alot of research on
respiratory drugs and JC> Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
I will drop you a line if JC> he offers any information that might be
useful.
I don't practice medicine but am caregiver to my 75 year old mother who
has been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She's on
24 hour oxygen and takes two 1 mg ampules of Pulmacort per day
via her nebulizing machine. Along with this she takes a combination of
Salbutamol 2.5 mg ampules and Atrovent 500 mcg four times a day. The
Pulmacort seems to be much more effective in results than the Beclovent
she formerly took. I have spoken to others who have found the
same positive change occurring when they switched to Pulmacort.
