But, there's no DS> external "connector" for comport 2...so, that's why I have the DS> setup that I do. Thanks...I finally got it working....typical nightmare...the serial cable I just purchased from Best Buy was defective....I only found that out after I bought a new BestData v.92 external from Circuit City(it came with a serial cable).... Then, I found out there was a problem with the serial port on the machine...so after hours of New Delhi based, barely understandable English that got solved(some computer companies have a very warped idea of default values)... and an even worse idea of telephone support. Of course the new modem isn't listed in the modem table that IM has...so in a step of final desperation I used ATZ| as the init string...and now it all works. Thanks you you and everyone else that responded to by requests for help. Your names and nodenumbers have been inscribed on the brickwall that has the dents from my head banging into it. cya, thom http://www.tlchost.net/echolist/ --- GEcho 1.20/Pro* Origin: Home of The Other Robot (1:261/1352) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 261/1352 38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
