"What, again? So soon?" he asked, incredulous.
My boss just doesn't understand my need for Disney World. But I wasn't
*asking* him for the time off, I was *telling* him I'd be gone for
twelve days. He took it well--he's really a nice guy, but like I said,
he really doesn't understand the addiction.
Therefore, SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) and I are again packed and
primed for another splendid sojourn to the south. Twelve days this
trip, with many already dedicated to meetings, meals, tours, and other
assignations, including:
* Saturday morning, 6 December, we're taking part in the first ever
EMuck Day at WDW with all our friends from that Internet chat area.
Finally, we get to see what Belle *really* looks like without her makeup
on! The group starts with breakfast, but who knows where it will end.
* Saturday noon, 6 December, the annual meet for r.a.d.p (the Usenet
newsgroup rec.arts.disney.parks). If we like 'em, perhaps the dinner on
Sunday.
* Saturday evening, 6 December, we have VIP seating for the Candlelight
Processional, with our friend Mellie "Alice" Ross in the chorus. (Hm,
maybe I should have spread it out a bit.)
* Live EMucking each evening, as I'm taking my big computer, "The Tower
of Terabyte" along.
* Disney's special Yule Tide Tour of the seasonal decorations at the
parks and resorts.
* The Jolly Holidays Christmas Party, an indoor version of Mickey's Very
Merry Christmas Party, with better food and no snow.
* Possible participation in the "Toad-In" on Sunday, 7 December, in
front of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. We're all going to wear "Save the Toad"
t-shirts and protest his replacement with a Pooh attraction. Given the
efficiency of Disney Security, it should last about three minutes.
* Continuing work on my photo essay, "The Fountains of Paradise."
* Job interviews at a couple of local colleges.
* and maybe--just maybe--my friends will be able to convince me into
visiting the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street, letting them shave my
upper lip for the first time since high school, and presenting myself to
the Disney Casting Center for an audition!
I will be unable to post my daily reports to Fido Disney this trip
because Rich Koster, who helped out in September, will be at the Park
with me. I'll try to post my dailies to my web site. The base URL will
be: .
To see what I wrote about our trip in September, check:
.
If anyone should be rash enough to post here a request, I shall, upon my
return, post the daily reports here. No ask--no get. OK?
Any questions, requests, or bug reports should be sent via email to:
. As I said, I won't be getting Fido mail
again until I return (and maybe not then--my local BBS seems to be
dying).
I'm sorry you all can't come join me, but perhaps I can still share the
fun through these posts. I hope you like them.
