subject: Should we create comp.lan

From: guymacon@deltanet.com (Guy Macon)
Subject: Should we create comp.lang.basic.powerbasic?

I am a Powerbasic user and also one of the folks in the news.groups
newsgroup who help people to get new newsgroups started.

As you may have noticed, spam in alt.* newsgroups is increasing.
What you may not know is that many sites which carry comp.* groups
don't carry alt.* ones. This is very common on corporate and
education newsservers, and tends to limit many people who use
powerbasic in science and engineering from reading this newsgroup.

So I ask the question: is this the time to try to start a newsgroup
called comp.lang.basic.powerbasic? To get a comp.* newsgroup, we
need around 120 people who will be willing to go to news.groups and
fill out an email ballot voting for the news group. Do we have taht
many? Does anyone have any objections to creating such a newsgroup?
