subject: Should we create comp

Caught on tape by an undercover CIA agent were Guy Macon's words:
 GM> >~10 messages a day, perhaps...
GM> That doesn't add up to the 120 votes needed. I won't pursue this if
 GM> there aren't enough votes.
Message counts aren't usually indicative of how many people actually
read a newsgroup. If only 5-10 % of those who subscribe do most of the
posting while the rest merely lurk, then you almost have your 120
votes, providing the lurkers get off their duff and vote.
'Course, I've never subscribed to a newsgroup, don't know how to get
one or post to it. I participate through the original internet, i.e.,
Fidonet of the BBS world. But if I can figure it out, I'll vote in the
 affirmative.
If a comp group is voted in and created, does it require a certain
message flow or periodic voting to remain in existence?
... Stultum facit Fortuna quem vult perdere.
