DA>TL>DA> Toy Story was one great movie....I'm surprised they aired it
DA>TL>DA> on free TV...!
DA>TL> So am I. I'm more surprised that they aired it so soon. I
DA>TL> figured that they would sooner or later but, not this soon.
DA> I thought this would be one that would make it back to the Theatres
DA> every seven years or so...like the other Disney Classics that keep
DA> getting recyles at the Theatre every few years. And people STILL
DA> keep going back to see them....Pinnochio, Bambi, etc.
DA> Seems that once it was on TV, it would lose it's 'box office'
DA> attraction...
Not for me!
Television just can't do artistic justice to a good animated film. The
aspect ratio is reduced (unless letterboxed), the range of colors and
brightness are limited, and the sound quality and stereo effects are
degraded--even with the best possible home equipment.
This is why I have studiously avoided seeing _The Little Mermaid_ on
video (I missed the first theatrical release). I want to see it done
right first. Later, I can watch it on video and let my memories fill in
the gaps in the performance left by the limited technology.
Frankly, given the choice between the TV for free and the theater for
$4-8, I'll take the big screen over the small one every time. JMO,
YMMV.
