Hello Cathy:
Way back at the end of July I posted some questions about unknown
neurological
and muscular symptoms in an elderly gentleman. (His frontal lobes are
atrophied, he can't drive, etc.)
You replied:
CH>Sheila, have they tried giving him Prednisone or Cortisone? I just saw on
CH>Medline a mimic of Alzheimers but can't recall what it was. I do recall
CH>that whatever it was is treatable. Also, have they ruled out Myasthenia
CH>Gravis? I do lots of Medline searches so with the right input I may be
CH>able to give you some relevant output. Cathy.
A man by the name of Don Wiss (I think) has an extensive web page on gluten
intolerance and suggested that as a possibility. All the symptoms I know of
fit that diagnosis. Obviously no one will know unless he's tested for it.
Fortunately for me, that's up to his wife and doctor.
As it turns out, gluten intolerance can be mistaken for Myasthenia Gravis.
Are your Medline searches free or do you pay? They can be done free, but I
don't have the web page address handy. Or to be exact, the abstracts are
free. The articles cost money. How much, I don't know. If you want the
address, please let me know.
Thanks for the reply. I'm keeping it on file.
Sheila
