Why not..  4X cd's arent even in Dev any more..  a 12 speed propriatory 
CD-rom would cost less than Seg building their own 4X

That DID happen..  Sony & Phillips Developed CD's in 1982 (Thats when CD's 
were released..  They were obviously in development b4 that)..  So anyone 
wanting to use a cd drive in a device HAVE to license it from Sony (The 
Patent/Copyright holders..)
