What do I have to do to get an objective, unbiased opinion of the
songs I have written?
I would describe myself as a barely functional guitar player and a
mediocre singer. However, I think I write good songs. I haven't
been able to get an honest opinion from anyone else, though.
We have a local songwriter's group around here, but they are
primarily interested in performing their own works, as
singer/songwriters. They have open mike nights and song circles,
but I don't perform well enough to be able to impress anyone. Quite
honestly, I think my performance _detracts_ so much that the merits
of the song itself fail to make themselves known.
I am not looking to make a career out of performing, obviously.
But, I would like to see if others might think my stuff is good, or
even would be interested in performing it themselves. Does anyone
have any suggestions? Or are there enough good songs out there
written by people can perform them well that, unless I can perform,
I cannot contribute?
Pax vobiscum.
John Mitchell
