It doesn't really matter what file system the source files come from, the file
system used for CDs is neither of the above. Think back to the early days of
CD drives, you had to install software just to read the CDs. SO it would seem
to follow that. regardless if the source file system is DOS 6.0, Win9x (AKA
FAT16/FAT32/NTFS/Ext2FS/Ext3FS/or OS/2/s proprietary file system (I forget
waht it was called, as I've never really _used_ OS/2), the file systemused to
create CDS work the same. I believe it's ISO...something.

Consider this...You could create a CD in Windoze and 'see' it on a MAC, an
older system that runs pure DOS, Linux, Windows NT,. etc. This says to me
that it's not the file system that's in question, It's how it's
created (although is _is_ possible to create a CD that can only be accessed
under Windows XP/NT) I have a MiniDisk walkman, and in my personal
experience, and MP3s that are created with a Bit Rate above 128 will
generally cause problems with some players.

I've got a MiniDisk Walkman, and I find that any MP3 files I try to
transfer over will just 'playback' with no sound (I.E. 5 minutes of
silence), where I can still play the source file on my Linux box or in
Windoze just fine.
